Getting Listed in Search Engines: Submissions
Submissions to search engines still remains one of the best ways to drive traffic to your site. Statistics show that close to 90% of site traffic comes from search engine listings and placement. But getting your site to appear in the top listings is not as easy as it once was.
Simply being in the search engine is not sufficient. Your site needs to appear in the high relevancy listings of the first page or two of search results. Being listed on page 325 out of 1500 result pages is not the best way to attract visitors. So along with submission, your site needs to be relevant for the keywords that best describe your business.
Creating relevancy includes developing proper text in your content, managing meta tags, using optimal titles for your pages, and getting links to your site from other sites. Because these things are all related to getting your site listed in the first page or two of search results, they will all be addressed together in this section.
Finding yourdomain.com: the needle in a haystack...
What can be done to enhance your search result placement on the major search engines? How do meta tags affect placement? How does your content affect search engine results? What are the key factors in increasing relevancy? How do you get others to link to your site, thereby increasing the popularity rank?
This area of the site contains articles, notes, and links to other resources that will help you answer these questions.
