1 Database 2 Database 3 Database 4, and more...
The advent of web based database systems has obviously revolutionized the web, as well as the nature of business in general. With them we have the capacity for e-commerce, for the collection of market data, for the publication of large news resources, and much more.
There are a large number of database systems on the market, including SQL, Flat File, relational, legacy, and Open Source. Some are very expensive and others are free. They all can be used for a large number of purposes and functions. Some are quite complex to use and develop for, others have built in development tools and scripts that make developing for them a snap.
What and Why to Collect.. .
Why would you want to collect various data? How would you go about collecting it? Once you had it, what would you do with it? How do you organize the data you collect? Are there advantages / disadvantages to a specific database system? Does a database system slow your site down? Speed it up? What does Relational mean? What is a flat file? What is SQL? Why do you care?
This area of the site contains articles, notes, and links to other resources that will help you answer these questions. |
